Coronation Day at Rottingdean
Oil on canvas
This important lost work came to light whilst Michael was undertaking a valuation of silver!
The scene is the artist’s home on a summer’s day in 1912 – although the costumes seem appropriate to an earlier time and the day of the Coronation of King George V was neither hot nor sunny.

The painting subsequently featured in Patricia Reed’s catalogue raisonne.
